"Poetry anthologies are a vital and sometimes controversial agent in shaping various versions of the literary canon. Several recent anthologies, including Bloodaxes's The New Poetry (UK) and Rattapallax's Short Fuse (USA) present challenging alternative visions of what 21 st century poetry is, or may become. Co-editors Michael Hulse (TNP) and Todd Swift (SF) will discuss the strategies involved in shaping comprehensive anthologies which seek to both represent, and provoke, emerging poetic generations, and read a few poems from the selections."

Peter Finch Poems from Nowhere: Working Outside Inspiration Where exactly does poetry come from? Can we induce it? Or do we need to wait around until it strikes? Are first thoughts best thoughts? Peter Finch will demonstrate a number of techniques that help the poet kick start activity when poetry is apparently not around. Participants should be open minded and bring with them some A4 paper and a pen. Nothing more will be needed. It will all come out of the air.
