Gordon
Janow has published fiction and nonfiction in the
U.S. and India, and is Director of Programs and tour leader
for Alpine
Ascents International. He has traveled extensively
for the past 15 years, with a particular interest in the
Indian sub-continent. In 1992 Gordon self-published Eastern
Time, a compilation of prose on travel in India, Nepal
and Vietnam. His most recent works have included a series
of performance monologues and travel articles for Outpost
Magazine, The Raven Chronicles and The Himalayan
Explorer's Club. |

Eric
Simonson has been guiding professionally since 1973
and has conducted over 80 expeditions around the world,
including more than 25 to the Himalayas. He is Director
of International
Mountain Guides. Simonson's climbing and guiding resume
in the U.S. includes 16 ascents of Mt. McKinley and over
260 ascents of Mt. Rainier and leader of the 1999 and
2001 Mallory & Irvine Research Expeditions. He summited
Mt. Everest via the North Ridge in 1991, with other classic
international ascents including Mt. Vinson (Antarctica),
Peak Communism (Tajikistan), and Cho Oyu (Tibet). Eric
serves on the Board of Directors of the American Mountain
Guides Association and the American Foundation for International
Mountaineering Exploration and Research (AFFIMER). Eric
is an AMGA Certified Alpine Guide and AMGA Certified Ski
Mountaineering Guide. |
