Mt. Mani

The Great Wall

Night after night
all night long
the Great Wall is built
and pulled down.

I Wish To Live As A Nameless Woman

I wish to go into a small valley
And live as a nameless woman.
I will have gourd vines on the thatched roof,
Grow cucumbers and pumpkins in the garden,
Plant wild roses for the fence,
Draw as much sky as possible into my yard,
And hold plenty of stars at night.
I would not be lonely even if the owls cry mournfully.

The village will be so small trains won't stop.
As I eat the candies from a brass bowl
And talk of life in the mountains where foxes roam
With my love late at night,
A shaggy dog would bark at the moon
And I would be happier than a queen.
